Tee ball is considered 6U ball, or rather children 6 years and younger are eligible. Several parents are asking about their 4 year olds. Generally yes that age is appropriate. Practices and games generally last about an hour at this age, each child is different but as a rule I would recommend the child to be enrolled in pre-k before attempting to play tee ball
Practices times are derived from a few factors, age group of team, field availability, coaches availability, weather and field conditions. Generally the younger teams get to practice first and that typically means a 5:30 to 7:00 field slot followed by older teams in the 7:00 to 8:30 field slot. We simply do not have enough fields for everyone to practice every day. Saturdays are usually practice days for some coaches but again they sign up for these slots as they are available.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays are the typical days that games are played. Games are not played on Sundays and Wednesdays. It is also not common for games to be played on Saturdays with the exception of Pre Season and Post Season tournaments. Weather may also be a factor in forcing make up games to be played on Saturdays.
Dixie ball is all volunteered based. We are constantly needing new coaches for tee ballers. If you would like to volunteer coaching, please indicate that you would like to volunteer on your childs application or email me at nduncan@troy.nc.us. We will send you a volunteer application to meet new State and Federal mandates for background checks, once approved you will be added to the coaching pool.
